Service for Sight

The Delta Gamma Foundation fosters lifetime enrichment for members, promotes Service for Sight, and partners with the Fraternity to ensure the future of our sisterhood.

Service for Sight has been at the heart of Delta Gamma’s philanthropic mission since 1936. The Delta Gamma Foundation has given over $2,800,000 in Service for Sight grants to organizations and schools that share the Foundation’s mission: to promote sight preservation and assistance to children and adults who are blind or visually impaired.

Service for Sight supports the four schools founded by Delta Gammas for the visually impaired and other North American organizations that promote sight preservation and provide assistance to children and adults who are blind or visually impaired. This philanthropy has been at the heart of the Delta Gamma mission since 1936 when a member who was blind, Ruth Billow, Eta-Akron, petitioned members to adopt “Aid to the Blind” as our official philanthropy.

As the only chapter on the Whitman campus to require members to complete service hours every semester, the women of Delta Gamma Alpha Eta are extremely dedicated to service. We are involved in the national philanthropy effort as well as our own efforts by fundraising and hosting the annual Anchor Drive basketball tournament, and making tactile quilts to send to the Pacific Foundation for Blind Children.

Whitman Anchor Drive

Anchor Drive is a unique designated driving service offered by Delta Gamma Alpha Eta chapter members. The Walla Walla Valley is home to an amazing selection of wineries and tasting rooms. As a prosperous center for wine, culture and relaxation, the women of Delta Gamma offer a designated driving service to help you enjoy a relaxing and stress-free trip to a winery and tasting room. All of our proceeds benefit charity and are priced by donation.
